What trends might 2022 bring? Social media is dynamic and any changes in it happen in the blink of an eye.
Often changes in societies can be seen earlier in social media than in reality. Also, the sheer variability of trends and behaviors in SoMe seems to be the most interesting thing about them. 😎
Undoubtedly, the pandemic has changed the way we use them and has made many ditches in the social media rankings. Let’s take a look at some of the most interesting trends:
It is worth focusing on LIVE Shopping, which has captured the Asian market.
It is becoming increasingly popular. According to iResearch, in China, the value of the live commerce sales market could grow to $423 million by the end of 2022 . We can expect more posts from Facebook and Instagram this year with the ability to purchase a specific item, improve payment processes or develop Facebook Pay.
How strongly we have come to love short video forms is shown by the TikTok phenomenon.
This one has 689 million monthly active users worldwide. The entire year 2021 just belonged to TikTok! This has spooked the creators of Instagram, which introduced Reels, or YouTube, which promotes 15-second YouTube Shorts videos. There is no doubt that short video forms will also accompany us in 2022. Instagram Reels and TikTok will be the places where brands will need to appear – whether with their own or influencer content.
How about getting out of the information bubble in 2022?
Facebook, which is trying to combat the avalanche of fake news, is introducing the ability to control what we see in News. This year we will have more opportunities to control the algorithm and watch content that may interest the user, not the kind of content that the service suggests. Maybe this will make it easier to see and learn about views, opinions and content other than our own. Another key step expected from Facebook in 2022 is digital identity and building a bridge between our Facebook profile and our presence in virtual reality and Metawers.
We are fed up with the idealized world that is shown to us.
The year 2021 changed the priorities of social media users, there was more emotion, so in 2022 the trend of authenticity will develop even more strongly. No filters, showing the imperfections that each of us has – this leads to the normalization of topics that until now were considered socially taboo. We are moving towards the good!
A recent but very important trend is corporate social responsibility (CSR), which is back in favor in late 2021.
We have begun to pay more attention to the actions of brands and the impact their activities have on the world and society. We demand transparency in actions, concrete actions and access to data. Social media, with its high reach, has become an ideal place to highlight CSR activities in communications.
